Delete your data

You can ask us to delete your data from Mesa at any time. This page explains how to ask, what gets deleted, what is kept and why, and how long it takes. For everything else about your data, read the Privacy policy.

How to ask

If you're a customer of a business (you have a Mesa loyalty card):

  • Ask the business where you have the card. The customer list belongs to the business, and the business passes the request on to us.
  • Or write to us at paluco@jibaro.tech with the subject "Delete my data". Include the name of the business (or businesses) and the mobile number you used to join.

If you're an owner, manager or staff member of a business: write to us at paluco@jibaro.tech with the subject "Delete my data", the name of the business and the phone number you have registered. The owner can also remove a staff member's access, but that alone doesn't delete their data.

If you came here from WhatsApp or Meta: Mesa uses WhatsApp only to talk to owners, managers and staff. This request deletes what Mesa stores. What the WhatsApp app stores is managed from WhatsApp's settings.

Don't send us passwords, sign-in codes or other personal data in your request. We will never ask you for them.

How we confirm it's you

Before deleting, we confirm the request comes from the person the data belongs to. We answer through the same channel you wrote to us from, and we may ask you to confirm the phone number or show us the card. That way nobody can delete someone else's data.

What gets deleted

If you're a customer, we delete from that business:

  • Your name, your mobile number, your birthday month and your language.
  • Your cards: they are voided and stop updating, and we delete your phone's identifier that we use to send it updates. You can then remove the card from your wallet.
  • The offers you had assigned and the record of the notifications sent to your card.

If you're an owner, manager or staff member, we delete:

  • Your profile: your number, your name and your role, and your access to the scanner and the assistant.
  • Your conversations with the assistant that Mesa stores, and the approval card records.

What is kept and why

  • Visits: the visit history is never edited or deleted, because the business's numbers come from it. Your visits stay in the business's totals, but without your name or your phone. To do that, we erase your name and phone number from your customer record, and the visits stay linked to an anonymous record.
  • The consent record: we keep the record that you accepted the privacy notice and when, as proof of what you accepted, for up to 3 years after your last visit.
  • The business's history: approved campaigns and the log of important actions (who approved, who downloaded the customer list, who changed staff) are kept so the business has an accurate history.
  • Copies the business already downloaded: if the business downloaded its customer list before your request, that copy belongs to the business. Ask it to delete it.
  • Backups: what we delete may stay in backups until they roll over: up to 30 days.
  • WhatsApp: the messages on your phone, and any copy WhatsApp keeps, are managed by WhatsApp, not Mesa.
  • Anything the law requires us to keep.

How long it takes

We confirm we received your request within 7 days, and we complete it within 30 days. When we're done, we let you know through the same channel.

If you only want to stop notifications

You don't have to delete your data for that. Remove the card from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and Mesa stops sending it updates. You can also turn off notifications for that card in your wallet settings. This doesn't delete your data: the business keeps your record until you ask for it to be deleted.
